Foods That Should Never Be Kept In The Refrigerator
|In case you didn’t know, it is recommended some products that we often put in the refrigerator be stored at room temperature. Potatoes, garlic and tomatoes are just some of these foods.
• Hot sauce: Believe it or not, hot sauce can “happily survive” in your pantry for three years. There is no need to keep it in the fridge.
• Potato: Cold temperatures have a negative effect on the taste of potatoes so store them at room temperature wrapped in paper bags. Plastic bags aren’t good because they retain moisture therefore affecting the rapid decay of potatoes.
• Garlic: Garlic is best stores in the net which it has been bought in or in any other bag that’s allows air circulation, at room temperature. But keep it away from potatoes, which leave moisture and gases that may adversely affect the garlic and cause poisoning.
• Tomatoes: They can get a place color when stored in the fridge, so keep them at room temperature and never in plastic bags. To speed up ripening (if necessary), place them in a paper bag. When mature they can last for about three days.
• Coffee: Refrigeration creates condensation, which can affect the taste of minced coffee and coffee grains. Coffee is best kept in a hermetically sealed container.
