A Chemical That Causes Tumors Is Revealed, Yet We Consume Foods That Contain It Every Day
|In a number of meals that we eat every day, a chemical is found that causes tumors to form.
We’re talking about a chemical called Acrylamid, which can be found in coffee, chips, fries, crackers and even in some types of baby food. This formation happens before thermal heating of the foods mentioned above. Many kids are exposed to it because of their small body weight. This dangerous chemical has also been confirmed by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), who have already started suggesting new laws that will be safety precautions in the food industry, says Daily Mail.
In Great Britain, food companies are already under pressure to change the process of making food so that the amounts of Acrylamid are decreased in the new process.
Why is this chemical so harmful? – “Acrylamid which is consumed orally is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and is distributed to all of the vital organs, where it is metabolized. That is how glycidamine occurs, which causes genetic mutations and tumors that we see in lab animals”, explains Dr. Diane Bedford, who is at the head of the EFSA committee and is looking into acrylamid research.
